The number
As written
After 00 1, the US number is ten digits: three-digit area code followed by seven digits. A US toll-free number beginning 800, 888, 877 or a similar prefix is not the same as an ordinary US number and may reject calls from abroad. Ask the organisation for its direct international number when one is available.

02When
When to call
The Philippines is 12 hours ahead of US Eastern time in summer and 13 hours ahead in winter. A 9am to 5pm US East Coast office day falls late at night in Manila, so the clearest overlap is usually 9pm to midnight Philippine time.
US customers, recruiters, suppliers and family. The call is commonly to a regular US office line or mobile, which can be reached from a browser without a US SIM or a per-user phone plan.

Which of those applies is read off the digits you type, so you are never asked to guess whether a United States number is a landline or a mobile. Services that ask you to pick quote one of these prices and are wrong whenever the guess is.

05Questions
Common questions
How do I call the United States from the Philippines?
Dial 00, then 1, then the United States number. After 00 1, the US number is ten digits: three-digit area code followed by seven digits. A US toll-free number beginning 800, 888, 877 or a similar prefix is not the same as an ordinary US number and may reject calls from abroad. Ask the organisation for its direct international number when one is available. From a browser on Airlophone there is no exit code at all: you type the number starting +1 and the price for that exact number appears before it dials.
What is the country code for United States?
+1. From the Philippines you dial 00 first to leave the country, so the full string begins 00 1. From the UK and most of Europe the exit code is 00 instead, and from Australia it is 0011.
How much does it cost to call the United States?
Basic calls to United States start at $0.03/min for landline and toll-free. From a US caller ID: landline $0.03/min, toll-free $0.03/min. Professional adds $0.02/min to paid calls, whether recording is on or off. Connected calls are billed per minute, with part of a minute counting as a full minute. Enter the number to see its exact price before calling.
Can I use my own number as caller ID?
Yes, if the number is eligible. Verify that you control it once, then select it as your Verified Caller ID when you call. Some networks cannot present a number you own on every route, and the dialer confirms that before the call starts.
What is the best time to call the United States from the Philippines?
The Philippines is 12 hours ahead of US Eastern time in summer and 13 hours ahead in winter. A 9am to 5pm US East Coast office day falls late at night in Manila, so the clearest overlap is usually 9pm to midnight Philippine time.
Do I need an app or a SIM card?
No. Airlophone runs in a browser tab, so there is nothing to install and no SIM to buy, and it works the same on a laptop you have borrowed. The person you call needs nothing either: the call arrives on the ordinary phone network, so their phone rings whether it is a landline or a mobile and whether or not they have internet.
