Get proof of an existing EIN from abroad
If your company already has an EIN, first check which proof the bank, platform or other recipient accepts. An entity transcript, an EIN confirmation notice and a Letter 147C are different documents.
Check online options first
The IRS lists an entity transcript as one way to confirm an EIN. Eligible Business Tax Account users may also access a digital EIN confirmation notice, CP 575. Access depends on your entity type and account role. Having a US LLC does not by itself guarantee access.

When you need a Letter 147C
The IRS also lists a phone route to request an EIN verification letter, Letter 147C. Use the current business contact instructions on the official EIN page. Have the company legal name, EIN, address on record and your authority to discuss the business ready. The IRS verifies the requester before providing account information.
Calling from overseas? The IRS international assistance guide covers its published English-language overseas support line and hours. Confirm that the department handles your document request before sharing account information.
Applying for a new EIN is a separate task
A lost confirmation letter is not a reason to apply for another EIN. The international phone-application route has its own eligibility rules. A company organised in the US does not become a foreign-organised entity just because its owner lives abroad.
