Why we built it
We built the phone we needed for work.
I travel often, but banks, government offices and many clients still answer on ordinary phone lines. Carrier calls were expensive. Full business phone systems charged every month for something we only needed on some days.
Airlophone started as our internal browser dialer. We already used AI call notes after video calls, so we gave phone calls the same memory: recordings you choose, searchable transcripts, call notes, owners and follow-ups.
Then we opened it to anyone with the same problem.

How are my calls and recordings protected?
Stored call records and recordings are protected with AES-256 encryption using provider-managed keys. Browser call audio is encrypted over its WebRTC connection, but ordinary telephone networks do not provide encryption across the full path to the recipient. Authorized services process audio and transcripts when those features are enabled. Read our security and data practices
Can I call my bank, or a government office?
Yes, and this is what most people are here for. Any published number works: banks, embassies, immigration lines, tax offices, utilities, a landlord. You are placing an ordinary phone call, so anything you could reach from a normal phone, you can reach from here.
What about phone menus, press 1 for English?
The keypad stays live for the whole call, so you can work through a phone tree exactly as you would on a handset: press 1, enter an account number, key in a reference. Nothing about the menu knows or cares that you are calling from a browser.
What if I am on hold for forty minutes?
The line holds. Long queues are the normal case for the numbers people call here, so the call is built to survive them rather than drop at twenty minutes. You are charged per minute for the whole call, hold time included, the same as any phone.
Can I get a refund?
If you have not spent any of it, ask within 30 days of your payment and we will return it to the card you paid with. After that, credit stays on your account and does not expire. A call that rings out, hits a busy tone or fails before the far end answers is not charged. Billing starts when a person, phone menu, hold queue or voicemail answers. If a call record shows a charge even though none of those happened, contact support so we can review it. An account suspended for fraud or abuse is not eligible.
What number does the person I call see?
By default, they see an Airlophone number. Set up Verified Caller ID with an eligible number you own when you want them to recognise it. A rented US or Canadian number can receive callbacks. Some networks cannot present your number on a route, and the dialer tells you before the call starts.
Can I use this to receive a verification code?
Probably not. You can rent a number that receives calls and texts, but most banks reject internet phone numbers for verification codes on purpose. Keep your normal number for two-factor codes.
Can I call emergency services?
No, and this is the one worth reading twice. We cannot reach 911, 999, 112 or any equivalent, and we cannot tell a dispatcher where you are. Keep a mobile or a landline for emergencies.
Does the person I am calling need anything?
No. You are calling their ordinary phone number, so their phone rings the way it always does. No account, no app, no internet connection, and it works on a landline.
When is a call charged?
A call is charged when the far end answers: a person, phone menu, hold queue or voicemail. A ring-out, busy tone or failed connection is not charged. If your call history shows a charge and none of those happened, contact support so we can review it.
Do I need an account?
Yes. You sign in with Google, or with a link sent to your email, which takes a few seconds and needs no password and no card. The account is what holds your credit and your call history, so a balance you top up is still there the next time you need it. Signing in with Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us, and nothing else.
Do my credits expire?
No. Top up once and whatever is left is still there on the next trip, next year, whenever you next need to call.
